FINALLY

Here's the proof! We were wondering if Jackson was truly an American child but turns out he is!! He finally likes mac and cheese! I mean, isn't that an American staple?? With Mike being out of town I often resort to my favorite "Mike's out of town meal" which is mac and cheese and Jackson finally decided he'd like more than a taste (we've been trying for a year to get him to like it) and sure enough---he ate two bowls (in his Nemo bowl of course!)

If the shoe fits...

We all know that you can have the right clothes but if you don't have the right shoes it can totally throw off the whole outfit! "One bear shoe mama"

A Star is born

Usually when Jackson decides that he doesn't need a nap, we leave him in his crib anyways and he seems to find ways to enertain himself. Jumping up and down, banging on the wall, talking, or running back and forth in his crib laughing---definitely not resting! So, the other day when he decided not to nap I figured he would do his usual routine and was about to turn off the monitor when I heard....singing! Yes. It was so cute and I wish I could have recorded it. We've been going to a music class for a year now and just recently he's been singing the songs outside of class (on his own without my prompting). There is this new song we just learned this Summer that goes "me me me me" to a really catchy beat. There are many versus. Me, you, we, no, yes, maybe, etc..... We have adapted this song to be about anything...Daddy, Mama, Bear, house, trees, etc. It's just such a catchy song that anything fits. So...these are the versus Jackson was singing: He started out with Me, You, No (his favorite--he actually screams this one) and then went on to naming his body parts: "toes, toes, toes, toes, toes, eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes, hand, hand, hand, hand, ear, ear, ear, bear, bear, bear, mom, mom, mom, mom, me, me, me, me...." He probably sang for about 10 min. before he went on to another non-napping activity. It was really fun to listen to and made me less stressed about the no-nap! I don't think he'll be the next American Idol but ya never know!

We have a contract

It's official, we finally found a house. It's new so not quite finished (hence the unstained shutters and garages and zero landscaping) but should be completed in the next couple of weeks in time for our early Sept. closing. Does it look like a giraffe to you?? The stone kind of resembles a giraffe to us.....

Future "America's Funniest Home Video" Star

So we think this is a sure winner for the next America's Funniest Videos! Jackson has some kind of strange love of sour things like lemons and limes. When we got home from the grocery store the other day he saw my bag of limes (meant for a shrimp dish) and begged for some. He was on his second lime by the time this video was taken. And if you're wondering why he eats on the floor it's because when our house was on the market we needed to be able to stash the highchair easily and he likes it on the floor now.

The obsession continues

Jackson is OBSESSED with NEMO! While camping we introduced him to the Nemo movie, a Nemo book on CD (which I think Mike and I have all 22 minutes memorized), a Nemo book (which he wanted to read EVERY time we read anything) and now Mimi and Dow have introduced the Nemo place setting. We have a bowl, plate (as seen in picture) and fork and spoon. For the time being this is the ONLY plate, bowl, or spoon we are allowed to use. "Nemo NOW!!!" "Nemo bowl NOW!!"

International Friends

This is my dear friend, Mandy. I went to visit her for a weekend before we had the blog so thought I'd back track a little to post this. Let's see...this was taken in May in Boston (where Mandy currently lives with her hubby and daughter). We met in Hong Kong during our 8th grade year and were instant friends. Since this time however we have never seen each other in the same place, or country I might add. Thanks to Mandy's great pen pal skills we've managed to keep in touch the past 18 years. Since our year together in Hong Kong we've seen each other in Washington D.C., London, Texas, and now Massachusetts. Who knows where we'll meet next!
